Early Life and Education

Bezos was born on January 12, 1964, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to a teenage mother, Jacklyn Gise Jorgensen, and his biological father, Ted Jorgensen.

The Jorgensens were married less than a year. When Bezos was 4 years old, his mother remarried Mike Bezos, a਌uban immigrant.

Bezos graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University in 1986 with a degree in computer science and electrical engineering.

Bezos showed an early interest in how things work, turning his parents&apos garage into a laboratory and rigging electrical contraptions around his house as a child.

He moved to Miami with his family as a teenager, where he developed a love for computers and graduated valedictorian of his high school. It was during high school that he started his first business, the Dream Institute, an educational summer camp for fourth, fifth and sixth graders.

New Coke

Coca-Cola Company introduces New Coke.

More Information for New Coke.

In April of 1985, Coca-Cola introduced “New Coke” in what many observers declared to be the worst marketing blunder in history. At the time, Coca-Cola was a 99 year old company looking for a way to update itself and they chose to do so by changing the original formula of their iconic soft drink. They created a sweeter version that had been preferred in taste tests, but fans of the brand protested the decision in an overwhelmingly negative response. Within three months Coca-Cola announced it would return to the old formula and tried to re-brand the drink as Coca-Cola “Classic” and New Coke quickly disappeared.

First Ladies

The First Lady of the United States has traditionally been the wife or other close female relative of the president of the United States. First Ladies are the hostesses of the White House, serve as advisors to the president, and are often involved in social issues. Over the course of American history, the role of the First Lady has changed and evolved.

The Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History in Washington, DC, features a First Ladies exhibition, one of the museum's most popular attractions. Its virtual First Ladies interactive tour provides a visual experience of the First Ladies' gowns and other artifacts.

Frequently asked questions

How many days are stores closed during Tet?

It really depends on the store owners. Vietnamese small businesses are very strict about their reopening day during the new year, wishing for a lucky and prosperous year ahead. They may visit a fortune teller or check the lunar calendar book and pick the date that best match their zodiac. Some may open on the first day of the year, others will wait until the tenth or even after the First Full Moon Festival (Tet Nguyen Tieu).

Are grocery stores open during Tet Holiday?

Some grocery stores such as Aeon Mall only close briefly on the New Year Day's morning and open from noon until late at night. Vinmart store chains often close on the first day and open on the second day of the new year. It is better you avoid visiting the shopping mall or grocery stores within 2-3 days before Tet holiday as they will be jam-packed with locals making their last minute holiday shopping.

When is Tet 2021?

In 2021, the lunar new year eve will fall on February 11th and new year day on February 12th. The actual public holiday is from February 10 to February 16. Expect banks, schools and other public institutions to close during this time.

Roshini S.

With clear structure and effective instructors, I was able to stay on track and perform well on the actual exam. All my instructors were knowledgeable, compassionate, and very, very helpful. Thanks for a great program!

Amy M. - Samuel’s Parent

Leah was fantastic. She perfectly pinpointed which areas my son could gain as many points as possible. The practice tests, tutoring, and scheduled study worked wonderfully. Leah is fabulous at working with teens and motivating them. She is also so incredibly knowledgeable about the test itself.

Michael V. - Christopher’s Parent

Erin has tutored both of my sons now and has done an outstanding job. She assessed where they needed to improve, made plans, and then taught them approaches and techniques that worked based on significantly better scores. I hope Erin is still doing this when time for my two girls to take their tests.

Justin A.

I received lots of resources and great help from the instructors. I am still in touch with one of my instructors and he has been very helpful resource for me both in the application process and in med school.

&aposThis Side of Paradise&apos (1920)

This Side of Paradise is a largely autobiographical story about love and greed. The story was centered on Amory Blaine, an ambitious Midwesterner who falls in love with, but is ultimately rejected by, two girls from high-class families.

The novel was published in 1920 to glowing reviews. Almost overnight, it turned Fitzgerald, at the age of 24, into one of the country&aposs most promising young writers. He eagerly embraced his newly minted celebrity status and embarked on an extravagant lifestyle that earned him a reputation as a playboy and hindered his reputation as a serious literary writer.
